The novel tells the story of Ilya Ilyich Oblomov. Ilya Ilyich lives in St. Petersburg , hardly leaving the house and not even getting up off the couch. He is not engaged in any activity which does not go into the light, but indulges in thoughts about how we should live, and dreams of a cozy quiet life in his native Oblomovka. No problem - the decline of the economy, the threat of eviction from the apartment - cannot move it, and only his childhood friend Stolz, the exact opposite of flaccid dreamy Elijah makes a hero for some time to wake up, to plunge into life, before it was finally extinguished in the "Oblomovism".
